2" 12V DC Electric Solenoid Valve N/O
Technical Details
Product Overview
The BZW-50K-12VDC is a 2" 12V DC normally open brass solenoid valve designed for high-flow control of water, air, and other compatible media in commercial and industrial fluid systems. This 2-way valve remains open when power is off and closes when 12V DC is applied. Its normally open configuration is useful for systems that need to maintain fluid flow during a power interruption or require flow to stop only when the valve is energized.
The normally open configuration is especially useful when a system needs to maintain flow during a power interruption, or when flow should stop only after the 12V DC coil is energized. Always confirm that the valve's default-open operation is appropriate for the system and that the media, pressure, temperature, and flow requirements are within specifications.
Constructed with a solid brass body, stainless steel internal components, and a Viton® diaphragm, this electric solenoid valve provides durable fluid control across a range of compatible media. It features 2" female NPT threaded ports, a 50 mm orifice, and a Cv of 48, delivering approximately 370 GPM of water flow at 60 psi. The valve operates at 0–90 PSI for water and 7–90 PSI for air, with a media temperature range of 15°F to 250°F. Its 12V DC coil requires 21 W (1.75 A), responds in less than one second, and is rated for 100% duty at rated ambient temperature. The BZW series design also supports low-pressure and gravity-fed water applications without a minimum differential pressure requirement.
Common Applications
Common applications include:
- Emergency cooling-water circulation
- Industrial water control
- Process water distribution
- Water treatment
- Filtration equipment
- Water sprinkler systems
- High-flow bypass or recirculation lines
Connect the coil to a correctly rated 12V DC power supply, allowing for its 21 W / 1.75 A electrical requirement. The 12V DC version uses lead-wire connections; verify the coil wiring and power supply before installation.
Installation
- Install the valve in line with the flow-direction arrow on the brass body, using compatible 2" female NPT pipe connections.
- The BZW series can be mounted vertically or horizontally. The valve is designed for unidirectional flow and does not prevent reverse flow.
- Flush the piping before installation, and we recommend an upstream filter to help prevent debris from interfering with valve operation.
- Confirm media compatibility before use, particularly with fuels or chemicals.
*Consult a chemical compatibility expert for correct seal and valve body material choice.
