3/4" 110V AC Stainless Steel Solenoid Valve N/O
Technical Details
Product Overview
The SZW-20K-110VAC is a 3/4" normally open stainless steel solenoid valve designed for water, air, fuel, and many compatible industrial fluids. Powered by a 110V AC coil, this 2-way valve remains open without power and closes when energized, making it ideal for applications where flow must continue during a power interruption. The valve features a stainless steel body, stainless steel internals, a Viton® diaphragm, 3/4" female NPT ports, a 20 mm orifice, and a Cv of 7.6, providing approximately 58 GPM of water flow at 60 PSI. The stainless steel construction and Viton® seal provide excellent corrosion resistance and are suitable for potable water, food-grade, and many general industrial applications.
How a Normally Open Solenoid Valve Works
A normally open solenoid valve allows media to flow when no electrical power is applied. When the 110V AC coil is energized, the valve closes and stops flow. Once power is removed, the valve automatically returns to its open position.
Because this 3/4" normally open stainless steel solenoid valve remains open when de-energized, it functions as a fail-open solenoid valve during power interruptions. This operating mode is often preferred in cooling water systems, recirculation loops, drain lines, and other applications where maintaining flow is critical.
The coil is rated at 15 VA and designed for continuous-duty operation. Typical closing time is less than one second. On water, the valve operates from 0 PSI to 90 PSI. On compressed air applications, a minimum differential pressure of 7 PSI is required for proper operation, with a maximum working pressure of 90 PSI.
Stainless Steel Construction with Viton® Seals
The stainless steel body and internal components provide excellent corrosion resistance and long service life in demanding industrial environments. Combined with a Viton® diaphragm, this valve offers compatibility with water, compressed air, fuels, oils, and many industrial chemicals.
The Viton® diaphragm is rated for temperatures from 15°F to 250°F (-10°C to 120°C), making this valve suitable for a wide range of industrial process applications.
Common Applications
This 110V AC normally open stainless steel solenoid valve is commonly used in:
-
Cooling water circulation systems
-
Emergency cooling loops
-
Water treatment equipment
-
Process water systems
-
Compressed air systems operating above 7 PSI
-
Bypass and recirculation lines
-
Drain, vent, and purge systems
-
OEM equipment and industrial automation systems
Before You Install
A normally open valve is designed to fail open. If power is lost, media will continue flowing through the valve. Applications that require flow to stop automatically during a power loss typically require a normally closed valve instead.
When replacing an existing valve, verify that a normally open operating mode is appropriate for system startup, shutdown, and power-loss conditions.
For saltwater, aggressive chemicals, or other corrosive media, consult our Chemical Compatibility Database and verify material compatibility before installation.
Installation Guidelines
The valve is connected with a DIN connection that comes pre-wired. Install the valve with the flow arrow pointing in the direction of media flow and preferably with the coil in the upright position. The coil is splash-resistant but not weatherproof and should be covered if installed outdoors.
*Consult a chemical compatibility expert to confirm proper valve body and seal materials for your application.
