Product Overview

The SZW-15K-12VDC is a 1/2" 12V DC normally open stainless steel solenoid valve designed for automatic on/off control of water, air, and other compatible media in commercial and industrial fluid systems. This 2-way, unidirectional valve remains open when power is off and closes when 12V DC is applied. Its normally open configuration is useful for applications that need to maintain flow during a power interruption, including cooling-water circulation, bypass lines, and process draining or purging systems. Choose this valve when continued flow during power loss is appropriate for the application.

The valve features a 304 stainless steel body, 316 stainless steel internal components, and a Viton® diaphragm for use with a range of compatible fluids. It has 1/2" female NPT ports, a 15 mm orifice, and a Cv of 3.5, providing approximately 27 GPM of water flow at 60 psi. The valve operates at 0–90 psi, with a media temperature range of 15°F to 250°F. Its 12V DC coil is rated at 16 W/1.50 amps and operates within a voltage tolerance of ±10%. The valve responds in less than one second and is rated for 100% duty at rated ambient temperature.

Common Applications

Common applications include:

  • Cooling-water circulation
  • Industrial water control
  • Water treatment and filtration equipment
  • Process water distribution
  • Bypass and recirculation lines
  • Process draining or purging systems

Installation

  • Install the valve in line with the flow-direction arrow on the stainless steel body.
  • This is a unidirectional valve and must be installed with flow in the indicated direction. The SZW series can be mounted vertically or horizontally.
  • Flush the piping before installation and use an upstream pre-filter to help prevent debris from interfering with diaphragm operation.
  • The coil is not waterproof and should not be installed in spray-down locations.

*Consult a chemical compatibility expert for the correct seal and valve body material choice.
